Mr. Proust

1.23.2012

I'm a sucker for a questionnaire and the Proust most definitely takes the cake. If it's good enough for Matt Damon and Vanity Fair, it's good enough for me, ya' heard? I take this one every year because I like to see how things have changed, how I've grown (or how I haven't), and where I stand within myself. I thought I'd share it because... well, why not? I share everything else.

What is your idea of perfect happiness? Me and Joe. Sunday morning. Chocolate chip pancakes. What is your greatest fear? Having regret. Which living person do you most admire? Single mothers. What is the trait you most deplore in yourself? I have no patience for stupidity or ignorance. I'm ruled by desire for passion in my life.  What is the trait you most deplore in others? Jealousy, negativity, bitterness, inability to accept responsibility, racism, ignorance, bigotry. What is your greatest extravagance? Cheese and pillows. What is your favorite journey? The one that Joe and I are on now. On what occasion do you lie? When telling someone the truth will hurt them unnecessarily. What do you dislike most about your appearance? I try not to give those thoughts too much control. Which living person do you most despise? Anyone who uses the N-word or the F-word (and not fuck- I use one that a lot). Which words or phrases do you most overuse? 'Pick your battles' and 'mother fucker.' What or who is the greatest love of your life? The man I'm marrying. When are you happiest? When I think about how far Joe and I have come as a couple, what we've created, and- cover your eyes, Mom- how much fun we had creating it. Which talent would you most like to have? To play a musical instrument. What is your current state of mind? Obnoxiously in love. Annnd super annoyed that Joe is sick and we have to sleep in separate rooms. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? Material things would mean less to me. If you could change one thing about your family what would it be? It'd be less complicated. What do you consider your greatest achievement? She hasn't been born yet. What is your most treasured possession? My uterus and my mind. What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery? Loneliness and jealousy. Where would you like to live? France. What is your favorite occupation? A writer. What is your most marked characteristic? I think someone else would probably be better at answering that question. But if I had to answer, probably that I never look put together- I'm just not that girl. What is the quality you most like in a man? Gentleness and a great laugh. What is the quality you most like in a woman? Humility and humor. What do you most value in your friends? Consistency, fairness, and supportiveness. Who are your heroes in real life? My mother. What are your favorite names? Marlo and Joe. What is it that you most dislike? Control freaks, drunks, and ignorance. How would you like to die? Happy and having taught someone something. What is your motto? Show up.
