Thank You

11.08.2011

I keep hearing from some people that there is a right way and a wrong way to do things. I assume they're referring that our way falls into the wrong way category. I don't get infuriated by that because I, of all people, appreciate that we're all entitled to our own opinions.

I will make this one point and this will be the only and last time I ever address this. Unless there is a big book somewhere that I was never given the chance to read that dictates all of the rules of the universe... I wasn't aware of there being a RIGHT way or a WRONG way for everyone. I'm pretty sure that there are 7 billion people in the world and the path that everyone takes isn't up for you to judge. Primarily because you're not the one walking that path. Not to sound so hokey pokey, but when you spend all of your energy on judging people and their path, you miss the beauty in everyone's journey and, most selfishly, you rob them of being able to feel that happiness, too.

What J and I are doing is focusing on our health, the baby's health, and our happiness. We've been very lucky with the support that we've been shown by a lot of our friends and family. While we wish that everyone could be on board with what we're doing and just appreciate that there's another life coming into the world, we can't control another persons actions and we wouldn't want to.

Quite the opposite.

Just like the ones that have supported us, what we want to do is actually thank those people. Those who are unsupportive and downright cruel are teaching us so much about what we won't do as parents. Sometimes the lesson of what you won't do is far more important to learn than that of what you will do. While we will naturally have wishes for our child, we will work everyday at being empathetic towards our child and appreciate the path that our child chooses for itself. We know how we will and won't treat Baby F and we will work hard everyday to not judge our little persons beliefs.

Not only will he or she have our support, he or she deserves their happiness.

Just like we deserve ours now.

I'm guessing that people are giving you shit b/c you aren't married? Eff them. I was asked to hide my bump at a friend's wedding b/c her family is "old fashioned" and Ben and I weren't married (or engaged). I flaunted my belly like no other!

All that matters is your health, your baby's health and your happiness. Haters gonna hate. :)
