Introducing Miss Marlo Mac

5.09.2012

I'll never be able to thank my great friend Lucy for photographing the entire experience for us. This photo was taken immediately after Marlo had been placed on my chest. Nothing can prepare you for the emotions you feel and having the first few seconds where Joe became a father and I became a mother captured is something that I will cherish forever. Thank you, Lucy.

She's here. All twenty-one inches, seven pounds and six ounces of her. And she's everything.

We're home and are adjusting to our new life as a family of three but I wanted to let you know of a few things that I've discovered over the past couple of days since M has become a part of our lives:

I have never been more in love with Joe.

I have never been more thankful for my own mother or had more respect for women. What we're able to do with our bodies is absolutely amazing.

I never thought that I would be someones personal bodily functions cheerleader. But, man, getting a burp out of my little girl makes me feel like Super Woman. And when she has a good poop? I wish I could bottle up that feeling and sell it.

Having a child gives the insignificant significance. To say that I have a new perspective on life would be an understatement.

Her full lips and chubby cheeks, the blue-green color of her eyes, her long, dark eyelashes, and insane amount of dark hair are probably my favorite things in the world. I could stare at her for hours and I have on numerous occasions. I'm just slightly obsessed with her.

These two people, Joe and Marlo Mac, make me wonder how I got so lucky?

Christine, I just wanted to tell you how happy I am for you. I have been following your blog waiting for your precious baby girl to make her debut! Congrats! Not sure if you and I are still friends on FB or not but just wanted to let you know that I am over-the-moon excited for you and I am sure you will be an amazing mom. Big hugs from one mama to another. xoxo - Amy
